UCL: Building Futures

Are you a care experienced young person in year 10 or above?

 If so, we are running an event which we have designed specifically for you! UCL: Building Futures will give you lots of information about what it is like to be a young person with care experience at university. We will talk to you about how to choose where to study, how to choose a course and what support UCL can offer you in terms of funding, accommodation and well-being services. You will hear from speakers and students with care experience who have progressed to higher education. The event will take place between 11am-2pm on Wednesday 2 June 2021.

 UCL: Building Futures will be held on Zoom and is free to attend.

To be eligible, you must:

  • Currently be in care, or have previously experienced time in care;
  • Be in year 10-13 in England and Wales, S3-S6 in Scotland, Y11-14 in Northern Ireland, OR be under 25 years old and have completed, or are currently/planning on completing, a qualification which would enable you to apply to UCL.

Please also note our general eligibility criteria.

Students who attend UCL: Building Futures and who are applying to university for autumn 2022 will have the opportunity to sign up to Causeway Education’s ‘Application Mentoring’: this programme provides students with support over the course of the UCAS application process. It is hosted on OSCAR, a secure platform that has been designed to help students produce an outstanding personal statement, using a step-by-step framework. Please see attached flyer for more information (please note places on this programme are limited).

To apply to UCL: Building Futures, please fill in this application form. The deadline for applications is 9am on Monday 17th May. If you have any questions about the event or your eligibility, please contact Fabrice (f.yala@ucl.ac.uk) or Suzanne (s.hewings@ucl.ac.uk).
